December Goals 2018

I have seen many bloggers on Twitter talk about their monthly goals. Even though I have always thought that was such a good idea, I have never put myself to the task, and have instead mentally checked in with myself regarding what i would want to achieve. As you could imagine, that has not been wildly successful.

At first glance, it can seem odd that I have decided to institute this level of dedication and transparency in December. Not only are we in the midst of the holiday season, but I am starting a new full-time position that will have me busy most of the day and stuck in traffic for another good chunk. Perhaps that’s more reason to put these goals out there.

If there is only one thing I have learned about myself over the years it is that if I add too much or take too much away, it gets overwhelming and demotivating. Given that, and the full-time position, there is only one true goal for December: consistency.

Let me break it down.

1. Publish Two Blog Posts a Week

As of late, I have been in a content rut, and haven’t been publishing consistently. From not knowing what to write about to not producing high quality content, I simply haven’t been putting much out. That needs to change.

My blog is an important space that provides me with a creative outlet and brings me so much joy. Because of this, there really is no excuse to not publish. I have already planned out my topics for the month. All I need to do now is write and schedule them.

2. Publish At Least One Video a Week

For those of you who do not know, I have a YouTube channel where I discuss all things MMA and highlight female fighters. To be completely honest, producing a blog post is much easier than creating a video. Sometimes all of that work is daunting, but I still thoroughly enjoy creating and communicating with everyone in the comments.

Given my new work schedule, there will be no way around filming at night, so I have upped my lighting game. My umbrella lights had been in need of a light bulb change, and last week, I finally bought them. I also know that I need to write scripts in advance, especially for slow MMA news weeks.
