Monthly Favorites| May 2018

Whether it’s on YouTube or a blog, I always find monthly favorites posts to be fascinating. I’m constantly on the lookout for new information, apps, or books that will help me do things more effectively or think about a topic in a new way. (Or just introduce me to an awesome new show.) I hope that you can find all of that here in my May favorites.

Fitness and Lifestyle

The Fitbit App

More specifically, the alarm clock feature. If you have a Fitbit, I highly suggest you switch out your phone’s alarm clock for the Fitbit app.

You set the time you’d like to wake up in the app itself, and all you have to do is remember to leave your watch on while you sleep. I do this already, so it’s not much to remember. Once it’s time to wake up, your Fitbit watch vibrates lightly, gently waking you up.

Libra – Weight Manager

This one is for my fellow Android users. My sister had told me about the happy scale app, which sounded like something I’d love to try. It turned out, though, that it was only for IOS.

A quick search, and the interwebs informed me that Libra was the best Android equivalent.

The annoying thing about weight is that it’s affected by everything. Fat, muscle, water, inflammation, you name it. If you gain or lose weight, it could be any of these. The Libra app allows you to track your weight and provides you with an overall trend.

If you have been going hard at the gym, eating like a saint, but for whatever reason have put on a pound, this app will show you that you’re still on a downward trend… so chill.

I’ve been using Libra for less than a week, but I thought the concept was good. I’ll keep you posted on my thoughts.

Apps (in General)

The Jamba Juice App

This app has come in handy  more than a couple of times already. Not only does it allow to order ahead, so you can skip the line, but it also automatically gives you points with each purchase. Once you’ve amassed thirty-five points, you’re offered a free boost or $3 dollars off your purchase.

I’ve saved some pennies because of this app.

Google Docs App

Pro tip for staying productive: get the Google Docs app. This very post was crafted in the app.

For all those times when you’re idly waiting and tempted to mindlessly scroll through Instagram or Twitter, get some work done in Google Docs instead.

This app is great for those days you’re running around and feel like you’re not actually going to get anything done. With this, you will.

Beauty

Elf Liquid Matte Lipsticks

These are amazing. I literally don’t want to wear anything else on my lips. They go on creamy and dry to a matte finish without drying out your lips. There is also minimal color transfer, so the original application will last.

If you have chronically chapped lips like myself, applying lip balm underneath always helps keep you looking cute.

Elf’s liquid matte lipsticks come in a variety of nude tones. I have Tea Rose and Blushing Rose. I want them all, though.

Entertainment

Avengers: Infinity War

If you have not seen this movie, you are not making the correct life choices.

Kidding… but it’s so good, I’d watch it again.

Thor

An oldie but a goodie. I had never seen a Thor movie in my life. I’m not sure why, I just never got around to them. After watching Infinity War, I was a little confused about their timeline, so I’ve gone back and watched some of the original movies of the Marvel cinematic universe.

The first Thor movie is hilarious. His character and situation completely draw you in and make you fall in love him. I understand all of the Loki love a lot more now as well.

What were some of your favorite things this month? And if you’re curious, I’ve curated more of my favorite things right here.

Best,

TheWritingSol
