How I Meditate

Raise your hand if you struggle with meditation. Yeah, me too. Not only do I sometimes struggle to get through meditation session, but any little thing to knock me out of my routine, and meditation is the first thing to go.

What is my meditation routine?

Every morning, I wake up, write in my Five Minute Journal, meditate, and stretch or do yoga. My meditations are always 10 minutes, and that as much as I can handle at the moment.

For the last few months, I have been using the Headspace app. I’m the type of person that needs a guided meditation. Ironically, having something to focus on helps me clear my mind. In the time that I’ve been using this app, I have done one of their foundation packages, and I am currently at the end of their self-esteem package. They also have others that are geared towards discipline, anxiety, etc.

Why do I meditate?

Meditation is a great way to destress and and regain focus. There are mornings when the pressure of all the things you need to get done that day mounts up as as soon as you wake up. More often than not, there will be times where my mind it no longer feels like working, and I have the hardest time concentrating. It is in both if these types of moments that meditation saves me.

Every morning after I meditate, I always feel calm, collected, and even more rested than when I woke up. If you haven’t tried meditating, I highly recommend adding it to your routine.

I know this isn’t exactly Christmas-themed, but I wanted to get back to my regular content a bit during Blogmas. Do you meditate? If so, is there a certain app that you use?

Happy meditating,

  1. I’m with you! I really only do full meditation when I go to Zen meditation. For some reason, I can get through all 3 sitting meditations, and 2 walking mediations for a full 1.5 hours. Left to my own devices however, I can only do a few minutes. I as well need guided meditations too.

Try moving meditations where you repeat affirmations or “I AM” matras while washing dishes etc. I find driving in silence really works as a moving meditation for me too. In the end, it’s all a practice and your steps are great foundation work! Cheers!

  2. I have used headspace in the past but I am currently listening to a meditation podcast called “live awake”. I strongly recommend it 🙂 Also, I just found your blog which I immediately found super interesting and with great content. You have certainly earned one more follower x
